Job ke excitement me log employment contracts bina padhe sign kar dete hain. Baad me notice period, non-compete clause, bonus terms pe dispute uthta hai.
Common mistakes:
- Notice period length na dekhna (2–3 months likha hota hai),
- Non-compete clauses jo aapko same industry me kaam karne se rokne ki koshish karte hain,
- Confidentiality terms itne broad ke aapko apna normal experience bhi openly share karne me doubt ho,
- Variable pay (bonus, incentives) ko “discretionary” likh diya jata hai – matlab guaranteed nahi.
Also, termination grounds ko lightly mat lo. “Termination without cause with x days’ notice” ka clause dono sides pe apply ho sakta hai – employer ko bhi and employee ko bhi.
Contract sign karne se pehle calmly padhna, doubt points likhna, HR ya apne legal advisor se clarify karna smart step hai. Once sign ho gaya, later “mujhe pata nahi tha” line weak ho jati hai.
Employment agreement koi mere formality nahi – yahi aapke work life ke boundaries set karta hai.
